Our newest residential project is a contemporary design where we balanced openness and privacy. We provided a combination of streamlined pathways, stone, a minimalist patio, and metal accents that all play a crucial part in the aesthetic. Angular tiles made out of raw concrete draw the viewer's eye to deliberate focal points, while the surrounding landscape beds soften the exterior walls. Baby Gem Boxwood, Holly Fern, Viburnum, and Xanadu Philodendron were a few of the plants incorporated into the landscape beds that offer elegance and simplicity.

Our newest San Antonio project is a fitness club located in the northwest part of town. The landscape design features a modern plant palette including Mexican feather grass, artichoke and Weber’s agaves, spineless prickly pear cactus, and other native plants. We are happy to report that a majority of the existing trees were preserved. Also, our plans were approved by the City without us having to make any revisions. See you in 2020 at the newest gym in town! ⠀
Over the past few years we have had the pleasure of being the lead designer in developing the public spaces of the largest planned unit development in South Texas. Tres Lagos is a 2,500 acre development that features parks, green-ways, hike and bike trails, community centers, homes, businesses, schools, churches, and universities. The park space is a series of three interconnected parks that offer a wide variety of recreational amenities. These include an amphitheater, picnicking pavilions, restrooms, walking trails, fishing pier, kayak launch, beach volleyball court, tennis courts, basketball courts, over sized playgrounds, tumble hill, soccer field, outdoor fitness equipment, and dog parks. The parks and bike trails feature live oak, cedar elm, Mexican fan palms, Texas sabal palms, bur oak, Mexican orchid shrubs, Texas ebony, Mexican olive, Huisache, fiddlewood, anaqua, Texas ash, tepeguaje, retama, guamuchil, mesquite, monterrey oak, Texas mountain laurel, Hong Kong orchid, jacaranda, and Montezuma bald cypress.
We worked tirelessly under an extremely tight deadline to develop the plans and specifications that met the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department requirements and the developer and City’s needs. The grant monies included U.S. Fish and Wildlife federal funds. We were able to successfully incorporate the federal fund grant requirements into the design and the contract documents. Our process is so thorough that the review by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department resulted in zero changes and an expedited notice to proceed. The result of the intense coordination between all project partners is a beautiful and highly functional series of outdoor spaces that is teeming with families and sports enthusiasts. The City of Mercedes has tasked us to complete the site planning, and the landscape and irrigation design of work for a 5-acre park portion of a 46-acre park. The Park is located on the northside of the city adjacent to the community center. This project is funded by the City and by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. This is phase one of a larger park development project. The goal for this development is to promote a healthy way of living for the residents of Mercedes and provide premiere park amenities. Featured elements include a covered basketball court, soccer fields, irrigation system, playgrounds, picnic facilities, native shade trees, nature conservation area, and rainwater harvesting system. Additional elements for future phases include walking trails, baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, and native gardens.
The design for the front garden of this residence focuses on a layering of plant material to soften the courtyard wall, focus your view on the main entrance, and balance the house volume. The courtyard features a pergola and water feature surrounded by palm trees, topiary, and cacti for a modern twist. The combination of dappled shade, falling water, and sweet scents create a wonderful sensory experience. We always strive to create a design that results in the best house on the block! ⠀
⠀ The City of Hidalgo has tasked us with the design and construction observation work for the 5 acre park project. This park is centrally located within an established neighborhood and has numerous existing shade trees. We are assisting the City with realizing their vision of this park development being a catalyst for additional neighborhood expansion and investment. Once the park is completed it will provide a valuable recreational resource for the residents of the neighborhood and will galvanize the value of the homes in the area. We continue to work in tandem with City staff members and the grant management team to provide a plan that meets the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department requirements and the City’s needs. We look forward to this project moving from the current design phase to the bidding and construction phases.
The City of Elsa Economic Development Corporation has tasked our team with developing a comprehensive signage program at major entrance points to the city. Our design incorporates modern materials like cor-ten steel and aluminum lettering with traditional cast stone trim and natural stone. Color changing lights add interest in the evening and make this a true landmark. Drought tolerant muhly grasses, agave, and succulents add the finishing touch. Welcome!
A premier South Texas school district requested a complete renovation of one of their early college high school campus. Currently the 2,200 students change classes, eat lunch, and socialize in a completely concrete environment. Our design concept is to integrate as many natural elements as possible. Stone patios with cell phone charging stations, a cor-ten steel clock tower, a hanging garden landmark sign, rain gardens, ephemeral streams, umbrella shades, tree groves, meadows, and pollinator gardens will be added. New entrance-way experiences will greet students, staff, and visitors. Lighting will add interest and expand the use of outdoor spaces at night. This project will be completed in 2019 with photos to follow in 2020.
