A former elementary school and grounds are being transformed into a place of fun, learning, physical fitness, and social services. The elementary school was shuttered several years ago. It is now being reimagined as the newest Boys and Girls Club center. Outdoor learning and social spaces are being integrated into the existing structure. Learning labs, and spaces for the fine arts, are combined with counseling and food services for a complete physical and educational program. A reimagined park space includes improved play, basketball, walking, and flag football elements. Revamped parking, walkways, and signage add to the overall guest experience. We applaud the Boys and Girls Club for having the vision to provide their services to an underserved portion of the city, as well as, focusing on sustainability by adaptively reusing a former elementary school site.
