Shortlisted! From a vast number of firms, we were shortlisted to provide conceptual design services for the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa. Our proposal was to elevate the entrance signage to landmark status by including outdoor sculptures, enhancing the visual impact of the specimen oak, integrating the west side of the entrance for an immersive entrance experience, and adding realism to the cascade elements. The central cascade was integrated with the site by adding large boulders and plantings, adding signature signage, and lanterns in the trees. In the meadow we added screening and a layering of plant material to offer a sense of enclosure and privacy while framing views to the existing cascade. We added landmark elements like a series of outdoor fire features with seating and a spectacular element like a human nest that certifies that the space is Instagram worthy!

This art collector’s estate will be transformed by the careful placement of native plants and stone to enhance the wide variety of outdoor sculptures. Sustainable themes of xeric plants, reusing existing materials, and reducing lawn area were blended into the existing retaining wall system. The marriage of Southwest style and a fabulous art collection create an exceptional outdoor space. Stay tuned for updates as the project will be under construction soon.
